Recaro innovations of yesterday and today

“First Of Its Kind” at Retro Classics 2019 in Stuttgart

Stuttgart, Germany. At this year’s Retro Classics in Stuttgart, Recaro will present products spanning more than a century of company history, featuring many that were the “First Of Its Kind.” From March 7 to 10, 2019, the company is exhibiting not only car, aircraft and child seats in Hall 1 at Stand 1B53.2, but also its latest product highlight: the brand’s first gaming seat, which is celebrating its market launch in 2019.

At Retro Classics 2019, Recaro is sharing a stand with the company Erlkönig Classic, which has the brand license for Reutter Karosserie products and specializes in spare parts and accessories for the Porsche 356. “With this stand, we’re creating a visible link between Recaro and its predecessor company, Stuttgarter Karosseriewerk Reutter & Co.,” explains Hendrik Ockenga, Director Brand & Communications at Recaro Holding, headquartered in Stuttgart. “We’re focusing this year’s presentation on our most innovative products: seats that were the first of their kind, thereby setting the standard in their fields, be it on the racetrack, on the streets or in the air.”

In addition to the first sports seat from Reutter, the first Recaro Sportsitz from 1965 and the Recaro Sicherheitssitz from 1971 – the world’s first seat with integrated belt system – Recaro is also showing the Sportster CS with its extremely lightweight composite backrest, as yet another highlight in automotive seating. In addition, the first child seat that grows with its passenger, the Recaro start from 1998, is featured at the show. Last but not least, one of the brand’s first aircraft seats, from the 1970s, is also on display.

As the brand’s latest development, Recaro is presenting another “First Of Its Kind”: the new Recaro Gaming Seat, which was developed in collaboration with gamers and is celebrating its market launch this year. “We’re offering a special highlight for the visitors of Retro Classics: at our stand in Hall 1, they’ll have an opportunity to thoroughly test our latest Recaro product in a gaming setup for the first time,” says Hendrik Ockenga.

The Recaro Group comprises the independently operating divisions Recaro Aircraft Seating in Schwäbisch Hall and Recaro Gaming in Stuttgart as well as the Recaro Holding located in Stuttgart. The Group’s consolidated sales amounted to 540 million euros in 2017. Currently the Group employs more than 2,400 employees at its locations around the world. The automotive seating business as well as the child seat and stroller business are operated by licensees.
