Recaro to Discontinue Its Upholstered Seat Business

Kaiserslautern, Germany

The Recaro Group has decided to withdraw from the upholstered seats market. Marketing and sales business Recaro Home, founded in 2010, will discontinue operations on January 31, 2013.

Following a careful analysis of the market and thorough examination of its options, parent company Recaro Holding has come to the conclusion that the sector offers insufficient potential over the medium term. As such, resources are to be reallocated to the Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Child Safety (child car seats) divisions and also to opening up new business areas.

Recaro Home has 13 employees and currently generates sales in the low millions. Orders can still be placed up to January 31, 2013 and customers will continue to be served beyond this date with limited trading continuing.

The Recaro Group’s consolidated sales amounted to 365 million euros in 2011. At the end of 2011, the Group employed approximately 1,750 employees worldwide.
