Stiftung Warentest: The best child seat ever is made by Recaro.

Marktleugast. The latest child safety seat test from Stiftung Warentest resulted in a clear winner: the new Recaro Privia infant carrier with the RECARO fix base. With a total rating of 1.3 the Recaro Privia when paired with the Isofix-base received the best test rating ever given for a child safety seat by the Stiftung Warentest.

In the latest edition of the “test” magazine (Issue 6/2014) a total of 28 seats were tested for safety, handling, ergonomics and hazardous materials. With the result of “very good” the Recaro Privia in use with the Recaro fix base is the undisputed test winner in the category Group 0/0+. With a rating of 1.3 Recaro was awarded the best test result ever given by the Stiftung Warentest, who has since 2007 tested over 200 child safety seats from various manufacturers.

„The test result from Stiftung Warentest confirms our premium standard. With the combination of Privia with Recaro fix we have set new standards where safety, comfort and handling for child safety seats are concerned. We are happy to be able to provide our customers with a test winner for every age group with the Priva and the Monza Nova IS (test winner, Stiftung Warentest, Issue 06/2013, Group I-III), ” explains Andreas Fellenz, Director Sales & Marketing, Recaro Child Safety.

With the launch of the Privia infant carrier, Recaro introduces for the first time the one-of-a-kind Headrest Optimization System “HERO”. This innovative system offers features such as the preventing of twisting of the seat belts; which guarantees optimal positioning of the belts and allows ease of fastening for the parents. The “HERO” system also provides extra protection around the child’s sensitive head areas of the child through extra side protectors in the case of a side impact crash. Thanks to this and other innovations the Privia does not require extra side protection elements, often used by other manufacturers, which need to be manually activated after installing the seat into the car. This reduces the risk of mishandling, ensures proper installation of the seat and fastening of the child while providing ultimate comfort.

Its light weight of only 3.7 Kilograms makes the Privia an exceptional lightweight in its class: to-date there is no infant carrier with comparable features in the market. The ergonomic design of the handle makes it easy and comfortable to carry.

„We have benefited from the years of experience inside the Recaro Group. Light-weight constructions, ergonomics and safety are core competencies of the organization. The test result confirms, that Recaro fascinates by transcending boundaries with trail blazing solutions for better seating,” explains Thomas Ruff, Director of Product Development, Recaro Child Safety.

As the Stiftung Warentest confirms, the compatible Isofix-base, Recaro fix ensures more safety and eases the quick and error free installation into the vehicle. Easy to see indicators on the front side of the Recaro fix base signalize at a glance the proper installation of the infant carrier. Removal of the Privia from the Recaro fix base is as easy as the installation. Only one handle is necessary to disassemble. This helps to prevent any discomfort for the backs of the parents and means no disruption for a sleeping child.

Soon Recaro will present a new Group I Seat, the Recaro Optia. This way, the company completes its Shuttle System for the Recaro fix base and offers comfort and safety for children from birth up to ca. 4.5 years of age.

The Recaro Privia is available in eight color designs. The breathable and robust cover is easy to remove without having to remove the belt system. As with all Recaro seats, the covers are machine washable up to 30 degree Celsius. A wide range of accessories such as the Recaro fix base, replacement covers, rain cover and mosquito net are also available. Special connectors allow the Privia to be built into a travel system with most stroller manufacturers.
